Save one Life
Greetings for the day.
A formal introduction to the Blogging World as this is my first Blog.
My Name is, Mohammad Vasif Siddiqui
Cabin Supervisor at JetAirways India Pvt. Ltd. Travelling, Biking and Designing are my Passions. I shall not take much of the time and space only introducing myself, so let me come to the topic of my Blog 'Save one Life'
A New year for everyone starts with Joy, Resolutions, Promises and several other feelings. This New year 2018 for me started with a Precious Lesson.
Flying is my Job, when others have their feet on ground mine are walking in the air.
Friday 5th January 2018 I returned from London and as usual had Jet-lag to get over, so only sleeping was on my schedule. Next day Saturday 6th January 2018 I had planned to complete few of my unfinished business, one of which was to go pick up my Chopper post it's servicing from New Mumbai Turbe. Yes, a Chopper Harley-Davidson Iron 883 which I like to show off, who would not!
This was my Off day after my European sector and had my next flight scheduled for Sunday morning. This day Saturday 6th was just another day which started with brunch and caffeine, however, ended with crunch and situation unforeseen.
Morning I phoned my pal Uday and asked him if he would be available, so he can accompany me to the service station. However, Uday was on an outstation layover and offered me his bike. I now needed an accomplice, so I summoned my other friend's younger brother Uzair who happens to share the same work profile. We departed for our journey to New Mumbai. The Chopper demanded some more pampering hence the pickup got delayed to evening, and we had to leave with only a few sips of coffee.
The turn around was without my Chopper so with Uzair riding and me as pillion we started to head back home and....... now we shamefully agree, without Helmets.
An obvious thought you might have after reading the last sentence is that we met with an accident. Yes! We met with a terrible accident and I can tell you all in detail of how and where and point out faults in the entire episode, but I am not going to. My intention to write or share this story is not to tell you how we almost lost our lives but is to tell you how I had my life Saved.
In this socially active world with over thousands of friends on various social media, you might feel you are a brand, which is alright. There are few however who are not in your friend list or even know you but are ready to risk it all for you and me. My life was saved by a few of these Brave Unknown friends and I owe my life to them. Down in the middle of the highway bleeding to death, few of these Superheroes lifted me and put me in their Bat-mobile and clearing the traffic I was delivered to the hospital right on time.
They say if you save one life you have saved entire humanity. I wholeheartedly thank these Heroes as they have saved my life and have given me a second chance, they saved my family too. However, we all need to thank these heroes. These Superheroes live among us, disguised, they look just like us humans, but they turn to their Superhero attitude when we are in distress. I salute these Heroes, and I am waiting to meet one of them one day to tell them, 'you make a difference'.
The Precious lesson that I learned from this encounter is, If it wouldn't be for them I would be History and if they can, we can too. This life gifted to us is very precious, if not for ourselves but for our family and if I save one life I will make a difference to the entire humanity. I don't want to be just another chapter closed after I am gone but I want to be a Superhero myself so my son can look up to me as an Epitome and be proud of. I pledge to Save Lives and encourage all to do the same.
We all speak about passion and yes biking is one of mine, but I was irresponsible for not wearing a helmet that day. Two weeks exactly from 6th January 2018 I have recovered and back home. I urge all bikers to wear helmets and protective gears while riding. Do it for the ones you love.
